Whether pursuing initial teaching certification or advancing professional development through graduate studies, the College provides comprehensive resources and support to help students achieve their educational and career goals.The Exercise Science and Kinesiology (ESK) program, within the College of Education, is designed to equip future exercise professionals with the knowledge and skills to meet the diverse health and performance needs of our population through the integration of coursework with laboratory-based and field-based experiential learning. The ESK program provides a Bachelor of Science degree, with three concentrations (Strength and Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Exercise and Wellness). The graduate program offers three Master of Science degrees: (a) Exercise Science; (b) Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning; and (c) Exercise Science with a concentration in Health & Wellness. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned graduate degree with a specialization in Exercise Science or a related field
- Experience in college-level teaching
- Experience in instructional technology
- Experience in an exercise science laboratory and/or practical setting
- Experience and/or interest in supervising and coordinating field experiences
- Experience mentoring undergraduate students
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or related field
- Successful teaching experience (in both traditional and online formats) in undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Exercise Science
- Experience and/or interest in new course development
- Record of involvement in professional organizations
- ACSM, NSCA, NCHEC, or other professional certification
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION : Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction, 9-month, non-tenure earning, effective August 7, 2026
This position will carry a 4:4 load (summer teaching possibilities based on student demand) and will be responsible for delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction across a wide variety of Exercise Science courses. Courses include, but are not limited to:
Exercise Physiology, Sports Nutrition, Survey of Exercise Science, Exercise Psychology, Exercise Testing and Prescription and Labs, Clinical Exercise Testing and Prescription and Lab, Strength and Conditioning, and Administration of Fitness and Wellness Centers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating and supervising field experiences; mentoring undergraduate students including student organization supervision; and involvement in professional organizations. Successful candidates will be expected to attend programmatic meetings and support student progression and success.
