The Internal Medicine Ambulatory Medical Education Scholar role (PGY-4) is designed for physicians who are interested in pursuing a career in academic medicine while practicing ambulatory medicine. This role provides experience within the clinical, teaching, and administrative spheres of academic ambulatory practice. This individual will work closely with GIM faculty, residents, and medical staff. They will serve as a mentor for residents in continuity clinic, facilitate educational activities, and lead efforts to improve the resident experience and patient care within the USF and TGH residency continuity clinic sites. MINIMUM:Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization and completion of 3 years of internal medicine residency.Working at USF

- CLINICAL -The individual will precept within one or both residency continuity clinic sites at TGH Healthpark and USF Health Morsani. They will be assigned a faculty mentor to meet with weekly and meet with Division leadership monthly. Their goal will be to see an average of 10 patients within a half-day with residents. They will have the option of having a half-day of their own clinic at either clinical site.
- TEACHING -The individual will be expected to attend Friday morning and afternoon ambulatory didactics sessions. They will be expected to present 2 topics for Friday morning 30-minute lectures and 4 topics for Friday afternoon 50-minute lectures over the course of the year.
They will serve as a faculty preceptor for the Doctoring 1 or Doctoring 2 course within MCOM one-two half-days a week.
The individual will develop a framework for a longitudinal population health and practice management curriculum within the Internal Medicine Morsani and Healthpark continuity clinic sites to be implemented in AY27-28 - ADMINISTRATIVE -The individual will be expected to participate in the IM residency applicant review process, interview a minimum of 12 categorical resident applicants, and attend the selection committee meetings during the interview season. They will have the opportunity to serve on a primary care clinic-based committee or GME program committee.
They will be expected to attend the monthly GIM Division Meetings, monthly IM residency continuity clinic meetings, both biannual GIM Faculty Development Sessions, and at least 60% of Grand Rounds on Thursdays 12:00-1:00. - Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
- Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
- May represent the university, college/school, or department.
