Job Opening: Occupational Therapist (OTR) - PRNFacility: Moraga Post Acute
Starting Wage: $58 per hour
General Purpose:
The Staff Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats residents, communicates with families, physicians, and other health team members, and maintains documentation of services in the medical records. Additionally, the occupational therapist conducts ongoing training and in-service programs for facility staff.
Essential Duties:
- Resident Evaluations: Assess residents to determine their occupational therapy needs, functional limitations, and rehabilitation potential in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.
- Treatment Plans: Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans aimed at improving mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional independence.
- Training Support: Aid the nursing department in training Restorative Aides.
- Supervision: Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in direct resident care and related activities, adhering to state practice acts.
- Communication: Regularly communicate with physicians, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families regarding progress, goals, and discharge planning.
- Meetings Participation: Participate in Resident Care conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation meetings as necessary.
- In-Service Training: Provide in-service training programs for facility staff as needed.
- Documentation: Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in line with facility, governmental, and third-party payer requirements.
- Safety Maintenance: Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance protocols.
- Education: Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention strategies.
- Equipment Recommendations: Recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment (DME) for residents to support independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), such as adaptive equipment, splints, assistive devices, elevated toilet seats, and grab bars.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of residents' information as well as company information.
- Equipment Maintenance: Report any issues with department equipment to ensure it remains in good working order.
- Quality Assurance: Contribute to quality assurance, performance improvement initiatives, and facility rehabilitation program development as assigned.
- Positive Relationships: Relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
