Overview
Education & Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency required.
-
Experience in a production or assembly environment, preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in coating in a manufacturing environment
Job Responsibilities:
- Continuous learning around extrusion theory and gain a full understanding of the coating process.
- Operate system to meet production order requirements for regular orders, trial orders, sample orders, and to maintain an inventory for work in process.
- Perform in process checks of coated wire for centering of wire within coating, surface conditions, adhesion of coating to wire, and coating thickness, using microscope, bench micrometer, and laser micrometer. Based on in process check results, independently determine suitability of coated wire for use compared to customer's specifications. When wire is not suitable, trouble shoot and resolve problems.
- Inspect incoming wire for surface condition, configuration, and size to confirm it is acceptable to coat. When not acceptable, communicate with source department to resolve concerns.
- Prepare samples from the work in process inventory in order to ship to customers.
- Troubleshoot and improve processes and techniques to yield greater efficiency and quality of coated products.
- Assembling and disassembling Extrusion and Polyimide Machines.
- Maintain cleanliness of tooling by cleaning and swabbing with isopropyl alcohol and/or blasting with grit blaster as needed. Judge the condition of hypo tubing. Correct/change out, as necessary.
- Participate in validation of new equipment/processes by producing coated wire and communicating results to Engineer.
- Perform periodic cleaning and preventative maintenance of Coating and Clean Room equipment, including disassembly of the extrusion system, roller straightener, and Godet wheels, etc.
- Perform routine (daily) cleaning of extrusion room and polyimide coating area.
- Keeping area supplied with spools for use in the department, to include the cleaning of spools.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Skills Needed:
- Ability to perform basic computer functions.
- Possess intermediate math, reading, and writing skills.
- Mechanical aptitude is a must.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good hand dexterity.
- Understand and apply safe work practices.
- Problem solving/ trouble shooting ability.
- Strong communication skills.
- Team oriented.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Fast-paced production environment.
- Work hours consist of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime may sometimes be required.
- May work with and around hazardous chemicals.
- Appropriate PPE must be worn where posted and required.
- Exposure to fluctuating temperatures may occur.
- Working with high heat tooling temperatures. (500-600 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Average weights in production range from 10-25 lbs. Maximum weights may exceed 75-80 lbs. on occasion.
- May be required to perform work above shoulder height.
- Frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting.
- Must be able to access all areas of operation.
- Standing/walking most of shift.
