Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics
Company Overview
Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is the premier health care provider for Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley. Made up of Salem Hospital, West Valley Hospital, Salem Health Medical Clinics and numerous other affiliated services — we’ve provided pioneering medicine since 1896.
We are proud to be a community-based, not-for-profit institution. Our board of trustees is made up of 14 volunteers who share a common belief: Our duty is to heal the sick and injured — not to answer to stockholders.
Salem Hospital is one of the largest of Oregon's 62 acute care hospitals and operates the busiest emergency department on the West Coast. It is a not-for-profit hospital, licensed for 644 acute-care beds.
Company History
Salem and Salem Health grew up together. And we're still growing! Salem Health’s journey began in 1896 with about $752 to turn the former Oregon School for the Blind into a five-bed hospital. It was on 12th Street near the current Willamette Heritage Center. To learn more about our history over the 125+ years please visit: https://www.salemhealth.org/about/125-years-of-care
