Founded in 2005 by Dr. Rich Mills, a board-certified veterinary criticalist, ACCESS (Advanced Critical Care, Emergency and Specialty Services) began with its original location in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Mills’ vision was to provide cutting-edge specialty and emergency veterinary care, fostering a collaborative and compassionate environment for pet owners and referring veterinarians. The Los Angeles hospital quickly established ACCESS as a leader in specialty veterinary care.
As demand for its exceptional care grew, ACCESS expanded to include additional locations in the San Fernando Valley and South Bay. In 2021, the organization further extended its reach with new hospitals in Pasadena, Los Angeles, and Palm Beach County, Florida, bringing its high standard of care to the East Coast. While the original Los Angeles hospital, along with the San Fernando Valley and South Bay locations, were transitioned to Thrive Pet Healthcare in 2020, ACCESS Pasadena and ACCESS Palm Beach County remain proudly independent and privately owned by Dr. Mills.
