Simulation Education Specialist
Summary of Duties:
As the Simulation Education Specialist you will be responsible for serving as a leader, innovator, and subject matter expert to incorporate simulation-based education (SBE) as it pertains to the development, design, coordination, and implementation in the curriculum across all the programs of the Elson. S. Floyd College of Medicine (ie: Graduate Medical Education (GME), Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Speech and Hearing Sciences (SHS) and Nutrition, Exercise, and Physiology (NEP)). You will have a defined area of management while providing crossover support to other areas of the programs.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the recruitment and supervision of staff, development and implementation of program policies and procedures with regards to simulation-based medical education, budget oversight and you will manage simulation curriculum within the multiple units in the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Virtual Clinical Center. You will report directly to the Assistant Dean for Simulation Based Education.
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Health Sciences, Education, or other related fields. Three years’ experience with medical or clinical lab training and development. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a yearforyear basis
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience providing training, educational or related instructional activities to learner communities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
- Ability to travel (sometimes overnight) across WA State.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with simulation education or Standardized Patient Programs.
- Ability to obtain Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
- Master’s degree in healthcare simulation, medical education, and/or related field.
- Four (4) or more years of healthcare simulation and/or healthcare training work experience.
- Current certification as Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and/or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).
- Higher Education or adult medical related education experience.
- License and/or certification related to the specialty area of Medical/Healthcare/Clinical field (MD, RN, EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or related healthcare field).

Monthly Salary: $4,508.70 - $6,199.47
This position has been approved for participation in the WSU Hiring Incentive program. Incumbent will be eligible for up to $5,000 hiring incentive paid after 6-months of employment; incentive program is subject to restrictions.
