- Water Operator
Description
The Village of Norridge is seeking a qualified Water Operator to perform skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and operation of the Village’s water distribution system and to assist with general Public Works duties. This position requires a hands-on operator with a Class “C” Illinois Water Operator License who will perform water-related tasks, respond to emergencies, and contribute to Public Works activities such as sewer, street, and snow operations.
Requirements
Water Operations:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, valves, hydrants, meters, and service connections.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the water distribution system, water towers, pumping stations, and SCADA monitoring equipment.
- Perform water sampling and testing to ensure compliance with IEPA, State, and Federal regulations.
- Assist with water system flushing, leak detection, and emergency water main repairs.
- Respond to SCADA alarms and take corrective action as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Utilize SCADA, GIS, and data management systems to monitor operations, collect data, and assist in troubleshooting system issues.
Public Works Operations:
- Assist in general maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers.
- Operate light to heavy equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, and other machinery.
- Participate in snow removal operations, including plowing and salting.
- Support emergency response activities related to Public Works infrastructure.
