About This Opportunity

The City of Rio Dell seeks a dedicated professional to serve as Wastewater Superintendent - a leadership role combining technical expertise with team management in our state-of-the-art facility.

What Makes This Role Special:

Lead operations at our modern 2013 Aeromod activated sludge treatment plant
Manage innovative seasonal discharge system (irrigation May-September, Eel River winter discharge)
Oversee advanced belt press and indirect sludge dryer processing systems
Work with cutting-edge SCADA remote operations technology
 
Key Responsibilities

Chief Plant Operator - Direct all treatment plant operations
Team Leadership - Supervise two graded operators with shared utility crew access
Regulatory Compliance - Ensure all treatment processes & sewer collection system standards are met
Strategic Planning - Participate in Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study and future grant-funded improvements
 
What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

Grade III wastewater treatment plant operations certificate (SWRCB) or ability to obtain within 12 months
Strong computer skills and electro-mechanical troubleshooting abilities
Administrative and hands-on operational experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Public works experience across multiple disciplines
Drinking water & distribution systems knowledge
Flexibility and problem-solving mindset
