Position OverviewThe School of Business at the University of Kansas invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in International Business to begin August 18, 2026. This is a full-time, 2-year limited term, non-tenure track, academic-year faculty position.
This position will interact with students, faculty, and the broader business and international community through research, teaching, and service. We encourage individuals seeking to engage in impactful research and teaching in international business, strategy and management to apply, and join a vibrant research community with Vince Barker, Chang Hoon Oh, Jun Ho Lee, Todd Hall, Lindsey Yonish, Clint Chadwick, Brian Anderson, Beth Embry, Judy Rady, Kaushik Gala, Pat Downes, Nate Meikle, Patty Dahm, Niki den Nieuwenboer, and Jill Ellingson (Search Committee Chair and Area Director).

The University of Kansas is a leading research university in the United States with a strong tradition of academic excellence. Since 1909, the University of Kansas has been a member of the Association of American Universities, the premier consortium of research institutions in North America.
The University of Kansas School of Business offers undergraduate, master's (full-time and online) and doctoral programs. In recent years, the School has experienced remarkable growth with enrollment approaching 4,000 undergraduate students. The School offers a robust international business degree program and has made significant investments in study abroad programming. Growing the internationalization of our student body features prominently in KU's strategy, Jayhawks Rising.
The School of Business sits on KU's main campus in Lawrence and resides in Capitol Federal Hall, a modern $70.5 million instructional space with advanced technology classrooms, faculty/staff offices, and student resources. Lawrence is located 35 miles west of Kansas City atop Mount Oread in the Kansas River valley. It has a population of about 100,000, with a large student population and a small-town, friendly atmosphere featuring major-city lifestyle amenities. Lawrence boasts a nationally recognized live-music scene and a historic downtown full of small businesses, art galleries, microbreweries, bars, restaurants and more. Museums in town and on campus offer exhibits of classic and contemporary art, natural history and anthropology.
Kansas City, Kansas, home to the University of Kansas Medical Center, is a 40-minute drive from Lawrence. The Kansas City metropolitan area has a population of two million and offers many fine restaurants, superb shopping and an extensive choice of professional, cultural and sporting events. The Kansas City International Airport (MCI), with a newly opened terminal, offers flights to all major U.S. cities and is less than an hour drive from Lawrence.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.
Job Description
40% Teaching
Teach required and elective undergraduate or graduate level courses in international business and management depending on professional background. Duties include but are not limited to course preparation, consultation, and assignment of course grades. Courses may be taught at the Lawrence campus and/or online. The course load for this appointment is two courses each semester (fall and spring). The Area Director will determine teaching assignments to best meet the needs of the School of Business. All faculty should abide by area, school, and university policies and procedures.
40% Research
Establish and maintain an active and productive program of research within area of specialization.
20% Service
Visiting faculty members are expected to participate in Area events and contribute to the Area, School and University community as needed, and the profession at large.
Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in international business or a related field (must be earned by August 18, 2026).
- Evidence of potential for teaching excellence in international business and related fields.
- Evidence of potential for excellence in research.

(1) letter of application describing interest in KU, experience and distinctive accomplishments, (2) record of productivity in teaching and research as described in CV, (3) research statement and supplemental materials (e.g., 1-2 publications or works in progress), (4) teaching statement and supplemental materials (e.g., teaching portfolio, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations), and (5) names of three professional references. Actual letters of reference will be required later in the hiring process.
