Location: Dallas, Texas (with extensive in-state travel required)
Start Date: Immediate
Reports To: Communications Director
Monthly Salary: $6,500
Allred for Texas is seeking a highly-motivated, detail-oriented Traveling Press Secretary to join our communications team. This is an opportunity to be on the front lines of one of the most competitive and closely watched races in the country — helping tell Colin’s story and hold John Cornyn and Ken Paxton accountable.
The Traveling Press Secretary will serve as the on-the-road press lead for Colin Allred, managing press logistics, coordinating with in-state and national reporters, capturing and disseminating rapid-response content, and ensuring message discipline on the trail. Spanish fluency (written and spoken) is strongly preferred but not required. This is a fast-paced, high-responsibility role requiring extensive travel with the candidate across Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary press point of contact on the road, staffing events and interviews, and handling in-state press inquiries.
- Plan and execute earned media events, including press conferences, town halls, roundtables, and meet-and-greets.
- Assist advance and scheduling teams to ensure smooth event execution, coordinating press logistics, media availabilities, pooled interviews, and general reporter access.
- Support the Communications Director in implementing aggressive, strategic earned media strategies.
- Monitor and track press coverage, flagging opportunities and risks.
- Serve as an on-the-record or on-background spokesperson for in-state press as needed.
- Draft press materials (advisories, releases, memos, talking points, media pitches, remarks) in English, and translate to Spanish if fluent.
- Capture photos, video, and behind-the-scenes content for rapid response and digital use.
- Perform additional duties as assigned as campaign needs evolve.
Requirements
- 2+ years of campaign, political, or relevant communications/media experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to draft press materials under tight deadlines.
- Ability to think quickly and problem-solve in high-pressure situations, managing multiple assignments at once.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Texas ties are a plus but not required.
Preferred Experience:
- Spanish fluency (written and spoken), ideally comfortable pitching, writing, and conducting interviews in Spanish.
- Experience working with a large team or across multiple departments.
- Experience staffing a principal.
