Augustana College is a private, selective, residential liberal arts and sciences college with an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students. Our scenic 115-acre campus is located in Rock Island, Illinois, part of the Quad Cities metropolitan area along the Mississippi River, about 165 miles west of Chicago. The Position:
Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, invites applications for a full-time open rank tenure-track position in business analytics beginning in August of 2026.
Responsibilities:
- The data analytics program at Augustana College contains two tracks: data science and business analytics. The successful candidate will teach 24 credits per 10-month academic year (standard courses are 4 credits), including business analytics courses in the existing departmental curriculum.
- Faculty serve as academic advisors to students. Accordingly, the position requires serving as an academic advisor to some of the students majoring in data analytics.
- Professional expression in the form of publications and professional engagement is required.
- Service is required. Such contributions at Augustana College can take many forms, including service to the department, to the College, to the profession, and to the wider community.
Requirements
Requirements:
- A doctorate in business analytics (or a closely related discipline), or a master’s degree in business analytics (or a closely related discipline) and significant relevant experience.
- Potential for excellence in teaching, advising, service and professional expression.
- The ability to teach business analytics classes in the existing departmental curriculum as well as the ability to incorporate experiential learning activities and common data analytics software into courses.
- Expertise in business analytics including the ability to use common data analytics software such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Python and R.
- Ability to recruit, work with, and motivate students both in and out of the classroom.
- Ability to work with business partners to secure experiential learning projects.
- Ability to understand, respect and support the work of other colleagues; commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and the value of a liberal arts education.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

The budgeted compensation for this position ranges from $65,000 to $85,000 per year based upon minimum and preferred qualifications, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Actual placement within the range will depend upon experience, education, research, rank, and other relevant factors.
