The company delivers trusted, innovative, and tailored solutions that support some of the world's most demanding and fastest-growing industries. With a commitment to legendary customer service, operational excellence, and global sustainability, Greif packages life's essentials and creates lasting value for its colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.
OUR VISION:
Being the best customer service company in the world.
OUR PURPOSE:
Create packaging solutions for life's essentials.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Greif is looking for a Senior Communications Manager to own our message, craft compelling stories, and bring them to life—no hand-holding required. In this high-impact, high-visibility role, you'll lead internal communications and play a key role in shaping external messaging with confidence, clarity, and creativity. You'll be responsible for setting strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to execute, ensuring consistent, engaging communication across audiences. If you can balance big-picture thinking with hands-on delivery, and you're excited to push bold ideas forward, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own Internal Communications: You're not here to assist—you're here to lead. You'll take full ownership of our internal comms strategy and execution, from high-level vision to daily execution and details.
- Help Craft Our Narrative: Whether it's a press release, a leadership speech, or an internal update, you'll find the narrative thread that connects the dots and brings our brand and work to life. This includes working closely with the Greif Foundation to position and maximize communications opportunities.
- Drive Messages, Consistently: You'll be the voice-checker, tone-polisher, and message-master across communications. This includes working closely with the commercial and marketing team on customer, brand, and social specific channels and opportunities.
- Lead with Autonomy: You'll have room to run. This role requires confidence, independence, and good judgment to know when to loop others in and when it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
- Plan and Execute Events that You Actually Want to Attend: From town halls to global events, you'll make sure we have strong messaging, a clear purpose, and actual impact.
- Create Processes That Work: Streamline how we communicate. Make things easier, faster, simpler, and smarter.
- Measure What Matters: Because data always has a better idea, you will track what's working (and what's not). Learn from it. Improve. Repeat.
Education and Experience:
- Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 5+ or more years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with executive leadership.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Confidence to speak up and challenge the status quo when something doesn't make sense.
- Know your way around crisis comms or change management.
- Strong writing chops. Like, really strong.
- A knack for storytelling, message strategy, and making complex things feel simple.
- The ability to lead, manage, and deliver without micromanagement.
- A mix of big-picture thinking and tactical execution.
- Comfortable working at a fast pace, juggling projects, and deadlines. This can't be stated enough. Greif moves quickly, on everything.
- Desire to continually challenge yourself and the organization.
- Confidence to figure things out as you go.
Bonus Points If You...
- Have experience with digital communications platforms and measurement tools.
- You're comfortable playing with some of our current tools: Notified, Staffbase, Sharepoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Workfront, company apps, etc.
- Love the Oxford Comma.
