Description
Speech Pathologist/Speech TherapistDescription: This is a professional position involving responsibilities including the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of language, voice and speech disorders in the school setting.
Speech Pathologist Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides speech pathology treatment services in accordance with accepted professional standards and practices, including muscular coordination exercises, sensory stimulation and association training and language development activities
- Evaluating and reporting on student levels of speech and language difficulty
- Identifying treatment options
- Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs
- Teaching students how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency
- Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
- Working with students in evaluation and ongoing therapy
- Participates in Committee on Special Education meetings, parent-teacher conferences and district meetings
- Maintains program records including but not limited to service budget, monthly reports, billing and Medicaid reporting, evaluations, reevaluations, progress monitoring, etc.
- Uses data to make recommendations and to drive services
- Counseling individuals and families on strategies to support communication disorders
- Develops and assists in the development of speech pathology policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in speech-language pathology from a New York State registered licensure qualifying program, a program accredited by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), or the equivalent.
- Part-time or full-time professional-level experience including direct clinical work with patients or students, consultations, record keeping, and any other duties relevant to clinical practice.
Salary: Starting at $48,410 but will compensate based on experience
