Cats Only Veterinary Clinic is the original, full service veterinary hospital, dedicated to the care and treatment of cats. For over thirty-five years we've had ONE purpose - to provide the finest in feline healthcare and we're looking to expand our team. Established in 1988, in Columbus, Ohio, Cats Only Veterinary Clinic has gained national attention as a state of the art, progressive, and innovative feline practice. We are certified as a Gold Level Cat Friendly Practice by the Feline Veterinary Medical Association. Six associates of Cats Only Veterinary Clinic have successfully completed Board certification as an ABVP diplomate. Cats Only offers all of the advanced medical and surgical care and modalities expected in this type of practice.
We are searching for a full time veterinarian to administer care to our patients and education to their amazing owners.
Position Overview
The Associate Veterinarian will provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care to our feline patients while delivering an exceptional client experience. The Associate Veterinarian will align with the Cats Only Veterinary Clinic’s mission of “We speak MEOW!” and has a passion for feline medicine, excellent communication skills, and a drive for both clinical and professional growth. Key Responsibilities
1. Medical & Surgical Care
- Diagnose and treat feline medical conditions, perform routine and advanced surgical procedures, and provide dental care, including extractions as needed
- Provide and discuss routine preventative care
- Perform euthanasia
- Participate in ethical clinical trials
2. Client Education & Communication
- Build strong client relationships by educating pet parents on feline wellness, preventive care, and treatment options
- Educate owners on feline life stages, preventative care, management and treatment of chronic diseases and co-morbidities
- Address client questions and concerns with empathy and clarity
3. Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians, support staff, and MDVM to ensure seamless patient care and clinic efficiency
- Attend biweekly doctor rounds and monthly (bimonthly) staff meetings
4. Record-Keeping & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with clinic policies and industry/state regulations
5. Cat-Centric Environment
- Ensure a calm environment for our feline patients and actively support Cats Only Veterinary Clinic’s commitment to being a Cat Friendly Practice
Required Qualifications
Education & Licensure: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school. Must hold a valid veterinary license to practice in Ohio. Certification as a Cat Friendly Veterinarian by the Feline VMA is also required (we will provide if not already certified). Valid DEA license in Ohio
Experience: Experience in feline-exclusive or feline-focused veterinary care is preferred but not required. New graduates with a passion for feline medicine are encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in feline medical, surgical, and dental procedures. Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as X-rays, ultrasound, and in-house lab equipment.
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and demonstrate compassion towards our patients and clients.

Work Environment:
This role is based in a fast-paced feline veterinary hospital environment. It requires regular interaction with employees, clients, and patients. We strive to teach and train our team members as to our medical and professional standards. All team members have a role in training.
