Description
VitalCare Family Practice is seeking a dynamic, board-certified Sleep Medicine Physician to serve as our Sleep Medical Director. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing and expanding our comprehensive sleep medicine program across all practice locations. The Medical Director will ensure high-quality patient care, promote operational excellence, and support the practice’s continued growth in Sleep Medicine. This is a hybrid clinical and administrative role, with the expectation that the Medical Director will also maintain an active patient panel in the clinic.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Provide direct patient care in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, both in the clinic and through interpretation of sleep studies.
- See patients in-person at our offices for consultations, ongoing sleep management, and coordination of care.
- Work with Advanced Practice Clinicians that are providing sleep medicine services on training and provide clinical feedback.
- Interpret sleep studies (PSG, HST) and make treatment recommendations.
- Oversee the clinical protocols and quality of care within the Sleep Medicine department.
- Ensure compliance with AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) accreditation standards.
Program Development & Oversight
- Work with the Sleep Director and the CFO to help drive the strategic growth of sleep services within the practice.
- Collaborate with primary care and behavioral health providers for integrated patient care.
- Develop and implement best practices, new services, and patient education initiatives.
Accreditation & Compliance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with AASM accreditation standards at all sleep lab locations.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and quality assurance metrics.
- Serve as the lead physician for audits, inspections, and certification renewals.

We offer integrated services in primary care, behavioral health, weight loss, and sleep medicine. Our practice is proud to serve diverse communities with a team of 22 providers, including bilingual physicians and staff.
We are AASM-accredited at both of our sleep lab locations and are committed to delivering excellent and accessible care to patients with sleep-related conditions.
Requirements
Qualifications
MD or DO with active board certification in Sleep Medicine
Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
Minimum 3 years of clinical sleep medicine experience preferred
Prior leadership experience in a clinical setting strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to team-based care and community-focused health delivery
