Summary
The Senior Technical Operations Technician ensures formulation efficiency during all pilot productions while capturing any formulation deviations. Serving as the liaison between Production and Product Development, this role communicates recommendations and changes for pilot and re-order products. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the end-to-end packaging process, including blending, encapsulation, compression, and powder filling.
Responsibilities
Conduct well-designed experiments and present findings to technical groups.
Perform timely adjustments to optimize production runs across all stages of the production process.
Develop prototypes to demonstrate new technologies and contribute to intellectual property development.
Oversee pilot and first-time production runs, ensuring changes remain within project scope and are communicated to relevant departments.
Collaborate closely with Product Development and Quality teams to capture and record deviations or changes.
Coordinate and execute benchtop, pilot, scale-up, and verification batches.
Lead problem-solving sessions using lean manufacturing methodology (A3).
Perform raw material physical testing (particle size distribution, bulk density, flowability, sensory, organoleptic).
Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment as needed.
Maintain and update Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); report progress during daily huddles.
Train others in product development, experimental design, and proper use of laboratory/manufacturing equipment.
Collect data, prepare reports, and present findings to senior management.
Ensure quality work within deadlines while working under general guidance.
Interact professionally with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
Contribute effectively as a team member while also working independently with strong communication and coordination.
Prepare baseline schedules, route documents for approval, and drive processes to completion.
Participate in project meetings and support ongoing initiatives.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
