- Senior Services Coordinator
Description
This position will work under the supervision of the Community Services Director providing assistance in the daily operations of the Community & Senior Center, Senior Nutrition Program and Community Park. This position will ensure a smooth process and comfortable experience for all Community Service and Senior focused programs and activities.
This position will also assist the Community Services Director by answering telephones; greeting visitors; performing general clerical duties; opening & closing the Community & Senior Center; set-up, clean-up and participation in programs and special events; and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include the following:
Community & Senior Services
1. Assist in planning and implementing recreational and educational activities for seniors.
2. Ensure the safety and well-being of all seniors by observing any changes in their physical condition or behaviors.
3. Assist with day-to-day operations of the Senior Nutrition Program – Meals on Wheels & Senior Café Meals.
4. Open and close Community & Senior Center as needed.
5. Answer telephones.
6. Greet patrons.
7. General Clerical duties – data entry, filing, creating flyers, etc.
8. Set-up and clean-up for programs and special events at the Community & Senior Center and Community Park.
9. Participate in programs and special events at the Community & Senior Center and Community Park as needed.
10. Adhere to all guidelines, policies and procedures of Northfield Township.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Senior Nutrition Program
1. Oversee pre-meal preparations including sanitizing counters and tables, arranging tables and seating, setting tables, making coffee, and preparing the dining area for meal service.
2. Monitor the daily sign-in sheet, reservation sheets and the donation box.
3. Monitor and record the temperature of the food throughout the mealtime.
4. Make sure that food is being heated/cooled properly in accordance with the Michigan Food Code.
5. Portion and serve congregate meals and assist participants as needed.
6. Portion and pack home delivered meals for delivery.
7. Review and distribute route sheets and meals to drivers, ensuring that each driver has the correct number of meals to be delivered.
8. Clean all tables, dishes and utensils used according to the Michigan Food Code.
9. Prepare supply orders for the program.
10. Adhere to all guidelines, policies and procedures of the Washtenaw County Senior Nutrition Program.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience:
The qualified candidate must have excellent customer service skills, ability to work with a wide range of personalities, a high level of integrity and ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment. Must be an independent, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and exercise independent judgment. Must be able to lift and move large items, such as tables, boxes and medical equipment including moving items up and down stairs. Basic computer and math skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn are also essential. General knowledge of or previous experience with food service is preferred. Previous experience working with the public and with senior citizens in particular is also preferred. The qualified candidate must have a flexible schedule, as work hours will be varied and include some evenings and weekends depending upon programming.
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Hours: up to 30 hours per week (with the possibility of future full-time hours)
