M.S. Degree in relevant discipline and experience with operation of ICP-MS platforms.
Position Summary
This is a highly responsible technical position which reports to the SREL Analytical Services Manager and requires experience with the use of protocols for preparation of samples for analytical analyses of metals and radionuclides. This individual will assist the Analytical Services Manager in operation of the SREL fee for service analytical analyses programs conducted for metals and radionuclides at SREL, which may include planning and scheduling sample processing, conducting analytical analyses, delivery of data to customers, and final billing. This individual also will be responsible for assisting the Analytical Services Manager with maintaining analytical equipment in working order and maintaining proper calibration and QA/QC to ensure data accuracy and precision. This position will be responsible for assisting the SREL Analytical Services Manager with ensuring that all research activities performed in SREL's Analytical Services facilities involving chemicals and other hazardous substances are conducted in a safe and secure manner in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations. This position will assist the SREL Analytical Services Manager with ensuring that all appropriate permitting, oversight, and coordination activities are in place for research activities conducted by SREL personnel and visiting scholars in SREL's Analytical Services facilities. Duties are subject to modification at the Analytical Service Managers discretion as needed.

Budget Management Responsibilities:
- Coordinate of intra-university fee for service analytical analyses performed by SREL.
- Under the direction of the Analytical Services Manager, this position will manage budgets for Analytical Services Account, conduct project planning, negotiate sample processing and handling requirements, schedule sample processing and data delivery, and process and submit internal fee for service billing.
Technical Responsibilities:
- As directed by the Analytical Services Manager, conduct sample preparation and analyses for SREL's ICP-MS, Total Mercury, Methyl Mercury, and related analytical platforms.
Training Responsibilities:
- Assist the Analytical Services Manager with meeting the training needs for laboratory personnel using Analytical Services facilities and equipment and scheduling/providing training on policies, procedures, and SOPs as required for use of SREL Analytical Services facilities and equipment.
Safety Compliance:
- As directed by the Analytical Services Manager, conduct regular safety inspections of SREL Analytical Services Labs for evidence of compliance with chemical, hygiene, and other relevant regulatory authorities.
- Assist in maintaining of the SREL Chemical Inventory for SREL Analytical Services Laboratories.
Laboratory Responsibilities:
- Assist with all maintenance and repairs for SREL fee-for-service analytical equipment as required.
- Consult with SREL faculty and staff regarding problem-solving associated with minor equipment issues and protocol optimization as needed.
