In this position, you will develop, plan and manage communication and event activities for the Texas Collaborative for Healthy Mothers and Babies (TCHMB) at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Austin. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, prior event planning experience, and experience in communications is preferred.

Position Summary:
Develops, plans and manages communication and event activities for the Texas Collaborative for Healthy Mothers and Babies (TCHMB) at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Austin. Functions in a Leadership capacity in the program.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Oversees all aspects of communications and event planning activities for TCHMB. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors project progress. Develops, implements, and manages policies and procedures to ensure effective execution of both internal and external initiatives.
- Manages and maintains the annual event budget, negotiates service contracts for communications and event venues or suppliers, tracks expenditures, and provides regular report on progress and financial updates. Ensures cost-effective planning and execution of communications and events.
- Provides regular updates and informs upper management of key communication strategies and activities, event milestones and activities, and overall progress. Prepares comprehensive progress reports and presentations on a regular basis, including metrics and analytics.
- Works closely with internal leadership team and funder regarding strategy and collaborative opportunities and to align messaging, branding, and event goals with program and funder goals. Identifies cross-functional engagement and partnership.
- Takes the lead in the preparation of progress reports to government funding agency.
- Interacts with representatives from state agencies and private organizations regarding program progress and event outcomes. Includes attending meetings with funder and executive leadership, potential event partners, etc. Serves as a liaison to promote program initiatives and secure support for events and communication efforts.
- Creates, edits, and manages communication materials and remains in compliance with UTHealth standards and funder policies. This includes various communications materials for the program, which may include printed materials, web site content, presentations, one pagers, and/or newsletters.
- Communicates with community decision-makers and professional audiences to share program objectives and outcomes. Prepares and delivers presentations at meetings and other public settings.
- Manage administrative tasks such as travel processing for event speakers and attendees, or procuring venue contracts and purchasing related to communications and event planning roles.
- Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibit professionalism and ability to represent organization and program at public settings and within all work settings (i.e., meetings, events), preferred.
- Able to manage multiple projects, preferred.
- Experience in event planning, preferred.
- Experience in communications, social media, newsletters, and emails, preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, Canva, Social Media, Newsletter platforms (Constant Contact and MailChimp), Web platforms (dotCMS, SquareSpace, Word Press), and project management tools, preferred.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
- Five (5) years of applicable experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.
