Professor/Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Student Services:
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The College of Social Work and Criminal Justice (CSWCJ) at Florida Atlantic University is seeking an
established educator, scholar, and leader to join our faculty and administrative team. The Associate
Dean shall be appointed by the Dean of the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice with
consultation from the faculty of the college. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Student
Services is a member of the Dean’s Executive Team as well as a member of the School of Criminology
and Criminal Justice faculty or Sandler School of Social Work faculty.
FEATURED RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the Advising Services team
Interprets and administers academic policies and procedures
Coordinates efforts to ensure meeting targets of key performance metrics
Manages personnel matters and disputes
Supports development and implementation of innovative courses and curricula/programs
Manages academic program evaluation and program assessment/renewal/accreditation activities
Supports faculty/instructors through promotion and tenure processes
Professor/Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Research:
POSITION SUMMARY
The College of Social Work and Criminal Justice (CSWCJ) at Florida Atlantic University is seeking an
established educator, scholar, and leader to join our faculty and administrative team. The Associate
Dean for Research (ADR) shall be appointed by the Dean of the College of Social Work and Criminal
Justice with consultation from the faculty of the college. The Associate Dean for Research is a
member of the Dean’s Executive Team as well as a member of the Sandler School of Social Work or
School of Criminology and Criminal Justice faculty.
FEATURED RESPONSIBILITIES
Enhances college-wide research strategies aligned with FAU’s R1 status and goals and the
strategic priorities of the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice
Cultivates an environment that supports high-impact, interdisciplinary, and translational research
Expands faculty’s external funding through federal, state, foundation, and private sources.
Provides training and professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, post docs, and
graduate students in research methods, grant writing, and project management
Leads initiatives to recruit and retain research-active faculty
Requirements
Professor/Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Student Services:
FEATURED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related discipline
Strong record of teaching and research, commensurate with rank of Associate or Full Professor
Experience in academic administration and/or leadership in higher education
Demonstrated experience and commitment to working in and fostering a cohesive and productive
faculty, staff, and student environment
Professor/Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Research:
QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in Social Work, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or related discipline
Distinguished record of externally funded research and scholarly achievement
Deep understanding of research infrastructure, compliance, and funding agency requirements
Experience in academic administration and/or leadership in higher education
Demonstrated experience and commitment to community-engaged research and working in and
fostering a cohesive and productive faculty, staff, and student environment
