About the Role
As the Product Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, interpreting, and communicating regulatory requirements for Dyson products in the Japanese market. Your core mission is to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant product regulations (excluding service and operational regulations). You will support new product development by providing technical insight into market-specific standards, cultural norms, and user practices unique to Japan. The role also encompasses maintaining product compliance for current and future Dyson product lines, as well as supporting colleagues responsible for regulatory affairs across the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, you will engage with industry associations and regulatory authorities to uphold Dyson's compliance and standards in Japan
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and document all JIS and other Japanese regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to new product concepts, sharing findings with the design teams. Ensure these are incorporated into the global product development process.
- Prepare technical documentation explaining key differences between Japanese (JIS) and international (IEC) standards.
- Conduct technical and regulatory training sessions for overseas colleagues and OEM factories.
- Review safety test reports for all new and existing products, ensuring compliance and proper document management.
- Compile and distribute monthly reports summarizing regulatory and technical topics relevant to the Japanese market.
- Provide support and regulatory advice to product compliance teams in other markets.
- Manage METI registrations related to PSE, excluding safety incident reports (handled by the quality team).
- Create support materials for sales and business teams.
- Respond to inquiries from industry associations and government agencies (excluding product accident cases).
About You
Must-Have:
- Work experience at a multinational company
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Japanese regulatory compliance for electrical products or related fields
- Native-level fluency in Japanese and business-level proficiency in English (written and verbal, including official documentation)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field
Preferred:
- Expertise in safety standards such as JIS/IEC 60335
- National qualifications such as Class 1/2 Radio Operator or Certified Electrician
- Experience launching new products in the Japanese market
- Work experience at a premium brand
- Experience in quality assurance or activities within industry associations
