Description
This position is open to students who have completed all the coursework in an NCRA-accredited cancer registry management/cancer information management degree or certificate program and need to complete the practicum experience to fulfill the requirement for the Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) exam. Should a student be accepted by this facility, he/she will provide documentation of program completion.
Students applying for practicum positions at this facility must have completed all the coursework in an NCRA-accredited degree or certificate program in cancer registry management/cancer information management. Students must adhere to the facility rules and regulations and should understand that the facility has the option to schedule you when it is convenient. Students may be required to provide a record of immunizations, a background check, a drug test and professional liability insurance, upon acceptance.
Requirements
Students are accepted into a practicum program at this facility based on space available at the facility. Facilities are limited in the number of student spaces available. Submitting an application to this facility does not guarantee the student a place in the practicum program. If the facility has an interest in having a student join the program, they will contact the student. It is the responsibility of the student to follow-up with the Human Resources Department at the facility, should there be questions.
Candidates for Practicum Student positions must have:
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree (or the equivalent 60 college credit hours)
-Two semesters of Anatomy and Physiology
- Completion of all coursework in an NCRA - accredited formal education program in Cancer Registry Management (CRM)/Cancer Information Management (CIM).
Students accepted for UPHS shall will provide NCRA with the following:
RE: Immunizations: NCRA will require students provide proof of routine immunizations or disease immunity, including measles, mumps, rubella and Varicella, as well as testing for tuberculosis. Evidence of Hepatitis B immunization, annual influenza vaccination and any other vaccinations/immunizations that UPHS may require from time to time is required for all Program participants and provide information to UPHS.
RE: COVID: NCRA will provide students with information that they shall either provide for or require that the Students purchase, at their own expense, all of the appropriate PPE as required by and as determined to be acceptable by the UPHS, other than such PPE that UPHS may provide to Students;
If NCRA or UPHS become aware a Student tests positive for SARS CoV-2 virus or any Pandemic organism or has a known high risk exposure, NCRA/UPHS reserves the right to cancel, Program clinical placements in its sole discretion including, but not limited to, due to increased exposure risk or an increase in the number of positive Sars-CoV-2 infections at School or UPHS.
RE: Criminal Background Checks: Students will make arrangements for the performance of lawful criminal background checks and child abuse clearances in accordance with Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law, 23 Pa. CSA §6301 et seq and provide documentation to NCRA.
RE: Health Insurance: Students are required to carry adequate health insurance, which shall not be permitted to lapse during the Program, and provide documentation to NCRA.
RE: Liability Insurance: Upon acceptance at the practicum at UPHS, students will have a policy of professional liability insurance coverage maintained in a minimum amount of Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000) per occurrence and in the aggregate with respect to all aspects of the practicum position. Students are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance evidencing such professional liability insurance coverage to UPHS prior to the start of their participation in the Program at UPHS.
RE: Consent Forms: NCRA shall collect appropriate consent forms from Students, which shall include consent to disclose to UPHS Students will be informed that copies of the reports or the information contained therein may be sent to UPHS. UPHS, who may in turn share it with the requesting department(s) as UPHS in its sole discretion may deem necessary. Original consent forms and report results will be maintained by the School and shall be available to UPHS upon written request.
