PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Power Supply/Key Customer Relations role is responsible for managing and optimizing processes and procedures related to power supply forecasting, planning, and hedging strategies, power supply budgets and projects. This position is responsible for managing DEMEC’s key account program providing added value to members and their customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Forecasts member energy usage and peaks for no less than five future years, with a monthly granularity.
- Leads in the development of member 5-year capacity plans and forecasted rates to provide budget details to Members and finance department.
- Develops energy hedging strategies and takes actions to implement agreed upon strategies.
- Leads in the development of power supply related educational tools and presentations for Members.
- Works in conjunction with Finance/Accounting in the review of power supply invoices to ensure accuracy.
- Stays abreast of PJM rules and impacts on DEMEC and projects.
- Responsible for overseeing the transmission and capacity peak shaving program.
- Provides reports and feedback to the President & CEO and the Board.
- Build DEMEC’s Key Account program by working closely with the President & CEO and Members. The Key Account program includes all facets of communication, organization, member relations, follow-up and site visits of key account holders.
- Provide direct technical support services that include conducting power quality investigations and electric load monitoring of key account holders. Investigation and monitoring include but not limited to receipt and interpretation of power data, analysis, report generation, distribution to account holders and follow up.
- Develop and foster excellent working relationships with key account holders and member participants. As necessary, provide guidance regarding rate provisions and management services.
- Facilitate appropriate notification, application writing, submittal, and implementation of grants available to key account holders and member participants.
- Support DEMEC’s tracking of facilitating load growth in support of member expansion across DEMEC membership
- Prepare, monitor, maintain and track DEMEC’s Key Account program and associated technical services program budgets
- Ensure honest and effective communications with the President & CEO, and the agency’s governing body to ensure a high level of trust.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of electric utility standards, operations, markets, and generation.
- Trust-based leadership style with high ethical standards and professional conduct, possessing competence, judgment, and personal commitment to the Company.
- Thorough knowledge of project management and process improvement.
- Excellent planning, project management, prioritization, organizational, and procedure writing skills are required.
- Strong business acumen and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
- Excellent written communication skills, including proofreading.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self-starter who is motivated, proactive, professional, and driven by a positive action-oriented approach.
- Highly accurate with attention to detail that can stand up to the scrutiny of internal and external auditors is a requirement in all aspects of the position.
- Highly reliable and responsible while demonstrating sound judgement, integrity, thoroughness, discretion, and dependability.

- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment while working on multiple projects concurrently and properly prioritize tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines.

Minimum Education and/or Experience
- A minimum of four-year engineering or business-related degree is required.
- Five or more years of experience in the electric utility industry, including supervisory responsibilities preferred.
- Three to five years of experience with customer services and/or business relationships preferred.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of electric utility standards, operations, markets, and generation.
- Experience and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple organizations, companies, and individuals.
Physical / Environmental Demands
- Requires the use of equipment standard for an office environment.
- Incumbent frequently sits, walks, and stands for an extended period of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry related materials or parts of at least 25lbs while adhering to safety standards.
- Must be able to lift materials overhead to complete job tasks as needed.
- Must be able to type on a keyboard, use a mouse, and view monitors for an extended period of time in an administrative setting.
