- Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Neurology (BRAINS Lab/Venna Lab)
Description
We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual with a recent Ph.D. in Neuroscience / Immunology/ Pharmacology/ Biomedical Sciences and related publications. Applicants with experience in handling lab mice, behavioral testing in rodent models, molecular and cellular techniques, such as flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, PCR and RNA work, are preferred. Skills in data analysis, bioinformatics, and good writing skills would be desirable. Candidate is expected to be collaborative and have good verbal and written communication skills.This position involves behavioral and mechanistic studies focusing on elucidating the interplay between post-stroke depression and chronic stroke recovery, and offers a unique opportunity to interact with several principal investigators, post-docs, and students working in the BRAINS lab. In addition to in-lab training, postdocs can benefit from the supplemental certificate training program offered by the UTHealth Office of Postdoctoral Affairs on responsible conduct in research, presentation, and teaching skills for career development.
This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding.

Position Summary:
A biomedical postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
2. Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
3. Reads and evaluates literature.
4. Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.
5. Have strong written and oral communication skills.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
