Details:
- Schedule: (Rotating shifts between 7am-7pm)
- This role will be performed onsite at a closed-door pharmacy in Knoxville, TN, (37923).
- Must have a valid TN pharmacy technician license.

Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for the filling and packaging of prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner for delivery to our customers.

Essential Job Functions (may include the following depending on position):
- Consistently meet pharmacy's established accuracy and productivity levels.
- Work collaboratively with other supervisors/functional areas to keep work flowing smoothly and efficiently.
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the dispensing of prescription medications.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Fulfillment or Cycle Fill Technician
Prepare prescription orders by verifying information and pulling appropriate prescriptions from inventory.
Apply labels to medication packaging, scan and assemble into appropriate bins in an accurate and timely manner.
Alert pharmacist on duty of any medication that is not scanning properly.
Participate in training and development activities to gain proficiency in other Fulfillment workflow areas.
Communicate inventory needs to ensure adequate supply of medication available to complete all orders.
Assist in maintaining inventory at appropriate levels, including removing expired or unused meds, marking used bottles and keeping inventory neat and arranged in-order. May assist in physical inventory.
Use pharmacy automation and technology systems to package medication in specialized compliance packaging.
Inventory Technician:
Receive, process, unpack and check in orders on daily basis
Place and organize inventory on shelves. Ensure products are labeled.
Perform daily cycle count activities and inventory audits
Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels. Restock shelves from overstock daily. Remove outdated products from shelves for return.
Investigate and report inventory discrepancies.
Assist with maintaining pharmacy system by updating NDCs in a timely manner
Participate in quarterly physical inventory.
May assist in filling and packaging of prescriptions
May assist with submitting all regular daily orders to ensure availability of products and smooth workflow in the pharmacy
Data Entry
- Enter new and refill prescriptions into an operating system in accurate and timely manner to eliminate errors at dispensing
- Triage incoming fax prescriptions to ensure timely dispensing
- Ensure proper notes in computer and cycle fill coding
- Calculate and/or verify the correct dosage based on the prescription
- Demonstrate caring, understanding and courtesy when responding to calls from customers. Route calls as appropriate to ensure top level service
- Ensure all prescriptions assigned for processing are completed.
- Receive, evaluate, process and follow-up as needed with doctors’ offices on all refills assigned
- Develop proficiency in the utilization of all pharmacy systems (i.e. document imaging, legacy pharmacy computer operating system)
- On an as needed may assist with inventory, profiling of orders for medical records, and filling processed prescriptions to dispense to the patient
Education and Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED (per state requirements)
Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements); National Certification from PTCB preferred for fulfillment and cycle fill positions, required for data entry and inventory positions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 1+ years of related experience (technical knowledge/skills may substitute for experience) for Fulfilment, Cycle Fill, Inventory. 2+ years for Data Entry.
- Inventory Management skills
- Advanced computer skills: pharmacy operations system experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
- Ability to solve problems with minimal direction
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
- Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire about inaccuracies
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week/full-time
