Job Summary
The CPS – LTC/Consultant Pharm Serv (Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Long Term Care/Consultant Pharmacy Services), provides comprehensive medication management services to residents at Sarasota Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (SMNRC) and consultant services to various other off-campus SMHCS Institutional Class III permit locations as assigned. Collaborates with Sarasota Memorial Health Care System leadership in the development, planning, implementation, and operation of consultant pharmacist services, advising on state and federal laws and regulations, including those unique to the SMNRC patient population. Works closely with other healthcare professionals, including RN’s, LPN’s and CNA’s, to provide optimal pharmaceutical care, in a manner that supports and promotes medication safety. As the Consultant Pharmacist of Record (COR), the CPS – LTC/Consultant Pharm Serv, has unique legal responsibilities, as defined in FL Stat § 465.0125 (2019), for pharmacy permit locations to which their State of Florida consultant pharmacist license has been legally ascribed. This includes a lawful obligation for maintaining all drug records required by law and for establishing drug handling procedures for the safe handling and storage of drugs.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Require active State of Florida Pharmacist and Consultant Pharmacist licenses.
- Require graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer five (5) years of recent, applicable consultant pharmacist experience in a health care system.
- Prefer excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and experience with clinical program development and/or project management skills.
- Prefer Board of Pharmaceutical Care Specialists certification in Geriatric Pharmacy (BCGP).
