Job Description:
The Division of pediatric surgery and St. Louis Children’s Hospital in partnership with CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri is seeking a skilled and experienced pediatric surgeon to lead pediatric surgery at a leading provider of pediatric services in southwestern Missouri.
CoxHealth is an award-winning regional health system with six hospitals, more than 80 clinics, five ERs and more than 13,500 employees throughout southwest Missouri. Pediatric care includes a six-bed PICU covered by pediatric critical care intensivists, a 33-bed Level III NICU, staffed 24/7 by Neonatologists, and a 26-bed general pediatrics floor covered by pediatric hospitalists. Pediatric specialty care includes cardiology, endocrinology, GI, general surgery, anesthesia, hematology oncology, orthopedic surgery, ENT, sleep medicine, and urology, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery.
This is a unique opportunity to have a thriving and challenging practice as a fully integrated member of the WashU Medicine faculty while living in Springfield. This opportunity combines the autonomy of leading pediatric surgical care locally with the resources and the expertise of a top-tier academic institution and experienced general surgeons at CoxHealth. As a WashU Medicine faculty member opportunities for collaboration in research, teaching, and professional development, if desired, are available. A highly competitive compensation and benefits package including a two-year salary guarantee will be offered ensuring that you will be well supported.
This opportunity is available due to the recent agreement between CoxHealth and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, with support of WashU Medicine physicians, to bring more advanced care to the children and families in Springfield and surrounding region. Pediatric care will be significantly expanded by creating a new pediatric hospital within the walls of CoxHealth and the construction of a comprehensive outpatient center that will include ambulatory surgery, pediatric specialty care clinics, imaging, laboratory services, and infusion. The established plan is to recruit a second pediatric surgeon and a pediatric nurse practitioner as soon as this initial pivotal leader is in place.
The successful candidate will be fellowship trained in pediatric surgery with a proven record of clinical excellence with a commitment to advancing patient care. Leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams is essential. Applicants should have three or more years of clinical practice experience and hold or be qualified to obtain an unrestricted license to practice in Missouri.
