- Pediatric & Adult Congenital Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Transplant Experience Preferred)

NYU Langone Health invites applications for a full-time Pediatric & Adult Congenital Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at its Manhattan campus. The position is ideally suited for a congenital cardiac surgeon with expertise across the age spectrum, with a particular focus on adult congenital heart surgery. Experience with heart and/or lung transplantation is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert surgical care for infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart disease, including complex primary repairs and re-operations.
- Lead and participate in the care of adult congenital heart disease patients, ensuring seamless transition of care from pediatric to adult programs.
- Perform heart and/or lung transplant procedures and mechanical circulatory support implantation (if applicable).
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including pediatric and adult cardiologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, transplant specialists, and advanced practice providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary congenital and transplant case conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and morbidity/mortality reviews.
- Maintain active clinical practice in congenital cardiac surgery with a focus on both pediatric and adult congenital populations.
- Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of protocols compliant with UNOS/OPTN guidelines (for transplant-involved cases).
- Advance minimally invasive and hybrid surgical approaches where clinically appropriate.
- Participate in the teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows, with opportunities for academic promotion.
- Contribute to clinical research in congenital and/or transplant surgery and actively engage in scholarly activity.
- Represent NYU Langone Health at regional, national, and international meetings, and participate in relevant surgical, transplant, and academic societies.
Qualifications
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery with fellowship training in congenital cardiac surgery.
- Demonstrated expertise in adult congenital heart surgery.
- Experience with heart and/or lung transplantation is strongly preferred.
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State.
- Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience, clinical focus, and academic contributions.
Salary
NYU Langone Health provides a salary range in compliance with New York State law on salary transparency. The annual base salary range for this role is $590,329- $746,000, commensurate with experience, clinical focus, and academic contributions. This range does not include incentive compensation, bonuses, or benefits.
