Description
About the Campaign:
Senator Ed Markey is a proven progressive leader with a deep record of delivering for Massachusetts—from championing climate action and reproductive freedom to taking on corporate special interests. As he seeks re-election in 2026, the campaign is building a dynamic, grassroots-driven operation to meet the moment—and we’re looking for an Organizing Director to lead our statewide field program and build the volunteer power needed to win.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Campaign Manager, you’ll oversee all aspects of the campaign’s organizing operation, from developing field strategy to building and managing a large-scale volunteer network. You will supervise regional field staff, direct voter contact programs, and implement strategies to turn out Markey supporters in every corner of the Commonwealth. The Organizing Director will ensure our field program is data-driven, inclusive, and built to scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Strategy & Execution: Design and implement a comprehensive statewide field plan to meet voter contact and turnout goals.
- Volunteer Recruitment & Management: Build, train, and sustain a diverse volunteer base, ensuring active engagement throughout the campaign.
- Staff Management: Hire, train, and manage regional field staff and organizers; foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
- Direct Voter Contact: Oversee canvassing, phone banking, text banking, relational organizing, and other voter outreach programs.
- Data-Driven Organizing: Use voter file data and analytics to track progress, target outreach, and adjust strategy as needed.
- Coalition Integration: Work with the Political & Coalitions Director to integrate coalition partners and allied organizations into the field program.
- Event Planning & Support: Coordinate volunteer-driven events, rallies, and community outreach activities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of organizing or campaign field experience; statewide campaign or Senate-level experience preferred.
- Based in Massachusetts or willing to relocate.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale field operations and meeting voter contact goals.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience using VAN or similar voter contact databases.
- Ability to work long, irregular hours in a fast-paced campaign environment.
- Commitment to progressive values and the mission of the campaign.
