We seek an applicant with an M.D. and an established record of publications, funding, and experience in clinical trials and clinical research in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders for a tenure-track faculty position (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor). U.S. licensed candidates with relevant experience in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders from all clinical specialty areas will be considered (i.e., Geriatrics, Neurology or Psychiatry).
Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM) has designated Alzheimer's disease as one of six prioritized research focus areas, which also include Aging, Neurosciences, Diabetes/Obesity, Cardiovascular Disease, and Health Equity. About Us
Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Atrium/Advocate Healthhavecome together as ONE leading, academic health system. WFUSM is the academic heart of the health system, which serves 5.5 million patients and operates more than 1,000 sites of care and 67 hospitals in five states. As the third largest not-for-profit health system in the nation, we provide extraordinary opportunities for population-based/health systems research and clinical/pragmatic trials that translate innovative findings from discovery science, and that embed equity in all that we do.Our National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT) is designed to serve as an innovative platform to revolutionize and catalyze the conduct of clinical trials-greatly accelerating the translation of scientific findings into improvements in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease for our communities and patients. The NCCT will offer core services for patient recruitment and enrollment, trial administration and follow-up, and to gather real world data and evidence.
We seek to transform translational research from bench to bedside to community, pioneer new models of education, and provide unparalleled opportunities to advance knowledge about aging and Alzheimer's disease that will result in innovative strategies for prevention and treatment, and improve care for all.
The successful candidate will have the extraordinary opportunity to lead efforts focused on expanding the reach of the existing successful national Alzheimer's clinical trials program at WFUSM throughout the Atrium/Advocate health system in collaboration with our NCCT. The candidate will also play a leadership role in clinical research conducted by the WFUSM NIH-funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center of Excellence, one of only 35 such Centers, creating an immediate connection to Alzheimer's programs at premier academic institutions across the nation. Generous dedicated research time and resources will be provided to ensure the candidate's success.
