Position Summary
Progressive Turnout Project seeks a mission-driven National GOTV Director to lead volunteer recruitment and training efforts for our Distributed Organizing program in California, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia in 2025 This is a great opportunity for a proven organizer to bring their talents to an innovative remote organizing program.
Reporting to the President, the National GOTV Director will serve as the primary driver of our supporter engagement and volunteer recruitment efforts across California, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The Campaign Director will take the lead on outreach to Progressive Turnout Project supporters and grassroots organizations throughout these five states, recruiting them to participate in our remote field program and providing daily onboarding and training to maximize volunteer effectiveness in support of Democratic candidates and progressive issues (like the Election Rigging Response Act in California).
This is a remote position based in the United States. The Campaign Director must structure their workday to overlap with Progressive Turnout Project’s core hours: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Upon program launch (~October 6), the Campaign Director must be available during all scheduled volunteer shifts.
There are no formal education requirements for this position. A background in government or politics is not required, but you must be willing to learn new things and stay curious. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:
Support Remote Field Program Development and Implementation
- Collaborate with staff to develop and implement supporter engagement strategies that support Democratic candidates and progressive issues through PTP’s Distributed Organizing model
- Build and maintain relationships with Democratic and progressive grassroots organizations across five key states that can support our remote field program
Lead Daily Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding
- Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment plan to engage existing PTP supporters and attract new volunteers for remote door knocking and voter contact efforts
- Provide daily onboarding sessions and training programs to teach volunteers how to participate effectively in the remote field program
- Create streamlined volunteer education plans that allow supporters to easily engage in distributed organizing activities
- Use outreach tools such as phone calls, text messages, and email to recruit and retain program participants
Manage Program Operations and Volunteer Support
- Provide participants with updates and reminders about key election dates, campaign logistics, and program requirements
- Manage Data and Technical Support Manager to respond to ensure seamless and timely response to volunteer questions, feedback, and inquiries

Requirements
Qualifications (You will be a good fit if):
- You have at least two election cycles or 1–2 years of organizing or outreach experience—whether on political campaigns, in grassroots organizing, or in volunteer recruitment and management
- You are deeply committed to protecting democracy and energized by work that helps increase Democratic voter turnout
- You are a strong communicator, with experience conducting training sessions, onboarding volunteers, or other educational outreach that connects with diverse audiences
- You have exceptional organizational skills and an eye for detail—you can juggle multiple daily training sessions without letting anything fall through the cracks
- You are comfortable using customer relationship databases and tools like Mobilize, EveryAction, or similar platforms
- You are an empathetic and efficient communicator who can field supporter inquiries with kindness, clarity, and confidence
- You are curious and resourceful, whether that means tracking down contact information or exploring new recruitment strategies
- You are skilled at working independently and managing your own workflow, while staying in close coordination with your team
- You have experience using Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive)
Preferred Qualifications (Not required):
- Experience with volunteer management platforms and CRM systems beyond basic usage
- Experience conducting virtual training sessions or webinars for volunteer audiences
- Experience with rapid-response campaign organizing and compressed timelines
- Background in distributed organizing or remote volunteer management programs
