- Manager of Sustainability
Description
Position SummaryThe Manager of Sustainability will implement the Company's maritime sustainability strategy, programs, and processes, and seek to establish the same for all business lines.
This position is responsible for coordinating the planning and leading the execution and continuous improvement of the Company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, while delivering day-to-day management of the Company's environmental reporting and management responsibilities. This is a highly cross-functional role that will collaborate with partners throughout the Company and across business lines. This position is critical to furthering the Company's principles of supporting the safety of our people and sustainability of our planet.
Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
Strategy & Analytics
- Lead and refine the Company's sustainability strategy in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Monitor market trends and customer expectations to align sustainability priorities with business goals.
- Develop and track KPIs; perform data analysis and visualization to inform decision-making.
Emissions Tracking & Reporting
- Manage Scope 1 emissions data collection and analysis, with a focus on maritime operations.
- Develop emissions reduction plans in partnership with internal teams.
- Produce sustainability reports aligned with relevant international standards.
Customer Engagement & Communications
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers on ESG-related matters.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to communicate sustainability efforts and support retention and pricing strategies.
- Represent the Company in customer meetings, forums, and industry events; translate sustainability data into clear, business-focused messaging.
Industry Engagement & Recognition
- Act as Company representative to ESG-related industry organizations (e.g., Blue Sky Maritime Coalition, NAMEPA, AWO).
- Promote internal alignment and external visibility of ESG efforts; identify and coordinate award or certification opportunities.
Grants & Funding
- Coordinate applications and compliance for federal, state, and private grant programs.
- Maintain records of funding opportunities, submissions, and implementation milestones.
- Identify and pursue funding partnerships, including joint initiatives with customers.
Regulatory & Subject Matter Expertise
- Stay current on environmental regulations and sustainability best practices.
- Provide internal guidance on ESG compliance and regulatory developments.
- Conduct research and benchmarking to support continuous improvement and innovation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of professional experience in sustainability, ESG, or corporate responsibility roles, with a strong understanding of environmental and climate-related initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience engaging directly with customers or external stakeholders on ESG topics, ideally in a B2B or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Outstanding cross functional partnership skills; ability to lead by influence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience translating ESG data and strategy into business value.
- Experience managing consistent and accurate data collection, leveraging IT solutions.
- Experience in maritime industries.
Physical Abilities include the ability to:
- Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; frequently walk; finger dexterity for handling paper and typing; occasionally crouch and stoop; occasionally lift and/or carry up to 15 pounds; and speak, hear, and see (close vision and color vision).
Working Conditions
- Ability and willingness to be based at the Company's headquarters office.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 50% on average.

Pay Transparency
Moran Towing Corporation offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target pay range for the Manager of Sustainability position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year. This pay range represents Moran's commitment to pay transparency and is a reasonable estimate of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate's exact location, experience, and expertise related to the qualifications.
