Description

A Massage Therapist provides clients with a variety of massage techniques and therapeutic services aimed at improving overall health, alleviating muscle tension, and relieving pain. The therapist uses knowledge of anatomy and physiology to provide personalized treatment plans to meet the individual needs of each client.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct client consultations to understand their medical history, lifestyle, and specific therapeutic needs.
• Perform different types of massage (e.g., Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, etc.) based on the client's needs.
• Adjust techniques and pressure based on individual client preferences and comfort levels.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records to track progress and ensure the best care.
• Ensure a clean and organized massage area, including the use of appropriate sanitation and safety procedures.
• Provide advice on lifestyle changes, stretches, and exercises to improve overall physical health.
• Adhere to all state and local regulations governing the practice of massage therapy, including maintaining a valid license and liability insurance.
• Continue to develop knowledge and techniques through ongoing education and professional development.

Qualifications:

• Licensing - Must be licensed as a massage therapist by the State of Michigan.
• Education - Completion of an accredited massage therapy program.
• Experience - Experience not required.
• Skills - Excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong understanding of anatomy, ability to assess client needs, and proficiency in a variety of massage techniques.
• Physical Requirements - Ability to manage the physical demands of massage therapy.
