Description

Essential Functions

• Conduct client orientation and intake per standard operating procedures.
• Articulates admission criteria to clients and external referral sources; Uses NSHSS criteria and program scopes to determine if client is eligible for services.
• Enters client information into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and Client Services Network (CSN).
• Perform clerical duties and manage the shelter front desk.
• Complete activity reporting as required
• Develop and monitor schedule of program activities.
• Create weekly meal plan.
• Maintain appearance and safety of the facility
• Assist with preparation of food, work, and supply orders
• Conduct facility checks both inside and outside of facility premises, including locker searches, as appropriate and designated per standard operating procedures
• Provide resources to meet basic client needs (distribution of clothing, hygiene products, personal mail, etc.).
• Report any critical client care issues or service provider issues to appropriate supervisory personnel.
• Provide necessary crisis intervention services and respond per established procedures to all emergency situations including medical, behavioral, fire, severe weather, and other hazards.
• Ability to work flexible shifts. Night, weekend, and holiday hours may be required.
• Current food handler's license or ability to participate in Department of Health Food Protection 15 hour course, pass exam and become a certified Food Handler within 30 days.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Commitment to the mission of North Side Housing and Supportive Services.
• Endorses a Trauma-Informed, Strength-Based practice model that integrates Harm Reduction and Motivational Interviewing.
• Experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or substance use.
• Experience working with the homeless population preferred.
• Spanish language proficiency a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, reports, and deadlines concurrently
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team approach model, taking individual responsibility and autonomy while also working well in roles leading and serving as part of a team.
• Supports and encourages a collaborative culture that values mutual respect, partnership, learning, trust, accountability, transparency and fairness.
• Models positive and appropriate professional behavior.
• Intermediate computer skills.
