What you will enjoy doing*
- In this role, you will report to the Associate General Counsel, Human Resources, and you will provide pragmatic, legally-sound, day-to-day strategicadvice and counsel to HR and business partners on a full range of U.S. labor lawand union related matters, including conducting and supervising labornegotiations
- You will work with HR and business leaders to maintain and develop U.S. labor relations strategy
- Conduct and advise team of HR labor relations personnel on labor negotiations
- Develop collective bargaining strategies and contractual language that enable business partners to achieve business goals
- Provide legal advice regarding labor relations to business partners, including on issues relating to contract interpretation, disciplinary actions, and grievance settlement
- You will represent Linde in unfair labor practice charges, grievance hearings, and labor arbitrations; lead response to organizing campaigns and threatened labor actions; and develop and conduct preventative labor relations strategies and training
- You will address multiemployer pension plan participation and withdrawal issues, as well as handle labor law issues in connection with M&A transactions
- Coordinate with HR to develop, review and revise NLRA compliant policies, practices and procedures
- Provide overflow employment law support
- Monitor on-going US regulatory, policy, and legislative changes and lead the efforts around modeling and analyzing impact
- Supervise and manage assigned support staff and outside counsel
What makes you great
- You should have a minimum of 7 years of broad labor law experience either in-house or with a national law firm, as well as in-depth knowledge of U.S. labor law
- Lead Chair experience negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Extensive experience with resolution of grievances and the arbitration process
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact comfortably and professionally in a fast-paced environment with all levels of management, including senior leadership team
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure
- Must possess a law degree from accredited U.S. law school and be licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one state, and able to become Authorized House Counsel in Connecticut
- Ability to travel up to 30-40% of time domestically
