Description
General Summary:
Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, rooftop units, and associated equipment. Inspects major HVAC equipment daily to ensure proper operation. Monitors building automation systems to assist in troubleshooting. Maintains HVAC tools and test equipment, recommending repairs, replacements, and purchases as needed. Participates in snow removal programs when required.
Requirements
Required Experience:
Ability to read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings and schematics (typically acquired through a High School diploma).
Knowledge or ability to learn HVAC equipment operation, including centrifugal chillers, pneumatic and electrical control systems, electric heat pumps, chemical treatment of HVAC water systems, etc., typically acquired through a four-year technical or on-the-job training program.
Required Skills:
Basic knowledge or ability to learn centrifugal chiller operation, pneumatic controls system operation, electric controls system operation, and electric heat pump operation.
Basic knowledge of electrical control circuitry.
Ability to troubleshoot, locate, and correct HVAC system failures in a timely manner.
Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and structural blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
