Features and Strengths

With the strength of the Rakuten Point market, which has surpassed 3 trillion yen in total issuance, we are building the "Rakuten Economic Circle" through service collaboration with Rakuten Group companies and the introduction of cashless settlement services in real stores, which are growing at an accelerated pace.

Our settlement services can be used at approximately 5 million online and offline locations, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and shopping malls nationwide, as well as at approximately 1 million locations where traffic-related e-money can be used, and the number of locations where this service can be used is continuing to expand.

This System Division handles everything from system service planning related to payment services, planning and implementation related to UI/UX, basic and detailed system design, coding, testing, and operation.

As the service expands, you will be able to experience the planning, development, and operation of a very large-scale system.

In addition, you will be able to improve our services by directly listening to the voices of our customers.

Device Product Operation Group, plan products and services for payment terminals that customers use to make payments at supermarkets, restaurants, and other real stores nationwide, develop systems in collaboration with manufacturers and other partner companies, introduce them to real stores, and perform maintenance and operation.

Since payment terminals are equipped with various payment methods such as electronic money, credit cards, and code payment, you will be able to acquire specialized knowledge of cashless payment services in general, as well as the basic technology skills to support them.

In addition, the products and services you are involved in are actually used in real stores, and by directly listening to customer feedback, you will be able to improve operations and enhance services, so you will strongly feel the significance of your work.

Why We Hire

In order to provide our services to our customers, we have installed our payment terminals in supermarkets, restaurants, and other locations across the country, regardless of industry, type of business, or size.

We are continuously planning, developing, maintaining and operating payment terminals, and we are looking for a person who can play a central role as a hardware product manager with an eye on the future growth of the payment business in Rakuten Group.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects while collaborating with multiple departments.

Position Details

Device Product Operation Group, plan, develop, maintain and operate payment terminals and e-money charging machines as Rakuten Payment's own products.

Planning

We plan and develop services related to payment terminals by conducting market research and collecting and analyzing customer needs in collaboration with business staff of each business such as Rakuten Pay, Rakuten Edy, and Point Partner. The business staff and the system staff share the responsibility for promoting the business, but the system staff is mainly responsible for examining hardware specifications and system methods for payment terminals and collecting information from payment terminal manufacturers.

Development

In the development of payment terminals, projects are launched and promoted not only within the company but also with external parties such as payment terminal manufacturers and payment service providers. Depending on the project, each member will play a different role, but they will manage the project, coordinate specifications with external parties, and conduct various negotiations. In addition, we plan and conduct tests for brand certification required for various payment methods such as e-money, credit card, and code payment.

After the development of the product is completed, we will conduct internal operations associated with the introduction of the product to real stores and provide customer support during the introduction.

Maintenance and operation

We provide maintenance and operational support to ensure stable operation of payment terminals and e-money charging machines after they are installed in real stores. We also provide support in case of system failures such as payment terminal failure.

As the payment terminals and e-money charging machines are undergoing systematic service enhancement, we are responsible for a series of development cycles, including the development of new functions and the correction of problems.

Work Environment

Device Product Operation Group, are an organization of about 10 people, including employees and members of partner companies. We have both young and mid-career members, and all of us are working together to achieve our goals.

Most of the existing employees are mid-career hires, and many of the members were previously in charge of development at system integrators or development management in the system departments of user companies, and had no experience in payment terminals, and acquired expertise and skills through their work after joining the company.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Three years of experience in system-related planning, development, and operation

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in proposing and pre-sales of IT solutions

- Practical experience in planning, development, and operation of payment services
