Description
The responsibilities of the Environmental Health & Safety Manager includes planning, direction and implementation of organization safety, security and health programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environmentESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Champions and promotes a strong safety and compliance culture. Takes care and promotes the effective adoption of safe behaviors inside the company. Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Plans and implements programs to train employees in work site safety practices, including, Compressed Gas, Respiratory Protection, Blood borne Pathogens, Forklift Safety, HAZCOM, Heat Stress, LOTO, , Fire prevention, Safe Lifting, Machine Guarding, Crane Safety, Hearing Conservation Program, Electrical Safety, Welding Cutting & Brazing, Personal Protective Equipment, Emergency Action Plan, etc.
- Inspects and teaches others how to inspect the facility, to detect existing or potential health and safety hazards, partnering with the team to determine corrective or preventative measures were indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Perform site inspections or risk assessments in the Factory and at PBB installation sites, reviewing local, state, and federal regulations to detect health & safety hazards, partnering with the Supervisors and Field Managers to determine root cause and corrective/preventative measures.
- Partners with Supervisor/Manager on the investigation of accidents, near miss, injuries, and damage to company property; responsible for the follow up on corrective actions and completion of reports. Collaborates with the corresponding supervisor/manager in the preparation of material and documentation for Injury/Short reports for Human Resources and the Business Unit.
- Performs and teaches the management team, how to conduct compliance audits on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Manages plant Emergency Preparedness Program and ensures plan integrity. Instrumental in the participation of the business continuity plan and responsible for the creation of the Infrared Thermographic Survey Program.
- Establish and measure Key Performance Indicators for the plant. Gathers information and generates required monthly reports for the Business Unit, Regional Headquarters, OSHA Logs, etc. Utilizes variety of different tools for root cause analysis such as 5 Why's, Fishbone Diagram, Cause Mapping, etc.
- Partners with Business Unit and/or Headquarters for the implementation of corporate initiatives; such as STOP Cards, 10 Rules of Safety, Health & Safety Day, etc.
- Ensure 100% of management employees participate in the Safety Leadership Development Program partnering with TKE Headquarters
- Identifies, designs and implements health & safety related projects.
- Provides information, signs, posters, barriers and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
- Participate and add value as a member of the TKAS Management Team.
- Engages in effective communication with people and within and across all departments
- Participate in Company Safety Program through safety meetings, audits, following good safe work practices and maintaining a safety and clean work environment.
- Takes care together with the resp. Depts. of the correct selection, monitoring and management of the contractors both in the field and in the factory.
- SAP experience and MS Office.
- Possess strong discipline to provide accurate and timely data. Strong analytical skills needed to analyze and interpret data trends.
- Must be able to work independently, making sound decisions utilizing good judgement.
- Impeccable attention to detail, effective problem solving skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast pace environment.
- Ability to lead and/or work well with a team.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time - accurately, efficiently and effectively.

- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety
- Certification in Health & Safety a plus (Specialist Safety and Health, Certified Safety & Health Official, Safety, Health, Environmental, Professional, Master Certification in Environmental Health & Safety)
- At least 5 years of experience working in an H&S role (possibly as a manager) in a manufacturing environment.
