We combine strategic and operational expertise with a deep technical knowledge to support developers, sponsors, lenders, and projects leaders to select, structure, improve and execute capital projects in a more efficient and sustainable way. Within INFRA, our Capital Strategy & Transaction Advisory team focuses on early project planning and deal due diligence, bringing together technical, market and commercial insight to drive transaction value and execution certainty.
To support our expansion, we are seeking a director to join our Capital Strategy & Transaction Advisory team. This role is ideal for a professional with deep sector expertise who can combine strategic insight, commercial acumen, and technical understanding to support clients making investments and portfolio decisions in the energy an infrastructure space.
The Opportunity:

The Director will lead client engagements and play an active role in business development. Working closely with the Managing Director and Senior Directors, the Director will drive project delivery excellence while contributing to building client relationships, practice development, and sector presence. This is a pivotal role for someone with deep energy infrastructure expertise - in either Oil & Gas or Power & Renewables and a passion for delivering high-impact solutions, a professional who is ready to operate at a higher level and grow their leadership footprint.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage buy-side and sell-side technical and/or commercial and market due diligence engagements, ensuring exceptional deliverables and client experience.
- Oversee the identification and evaluation of technical, regulatory, and/or commercial matters that potentially impact valuation, contributing insights while ensuring teams deliver high-quality analyses.
- Communicate effectively to clients, both verbally and in writing, due diligence findings.
- Manage complex engagement workstreams, integrating technical, commercial, and strategic perspectives.
- Support business development efforts by helping craft proposals, participating in pitches, and cultivating client relationships.
- Conduct market research and develop sector insights that support client strategy and internal thought leadership.
- Collaborate with practice leadership on service line development, internal initiatives, and resource planning.
- Mentor and develop junior team members to build bench strength and reinforce A&M's performance-driven culture.
- Represent A&M's Infrastructure practice in client discussions, industry events, and networking forums.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, or related field required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including time in a top-tier consulting firm, infrastructure advisory, or project development environment.
- Experience in the energy sector, including power, renewables and/or oil & gas (O&G) is required.
- Strong understanding of the infrastructure deal environment, including project finance, transaction dynamics, typical stakeholders, and the integration of technical due diligence into commercial and valuation considerations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Proven ability to lead client engagements and deliver high-impact results.
- Experience supporting or participating in business development efforts (e.g., proposals, client targeting, account management).
- Professional certifications such as CFA, AMP, or PMP are considered a plus.
Preferred Attributes:
- Breadth of experience across multiple energy technologies (e.g., renewables, conventional power, O&G).
- Comfortable operating at the intersection of strategic, technical, and operational issues.
- Proven track record of anticipating client needs and driving outcomes without constant supervision.
- High energy, entrepreneurial, and a client-first mindset aligned with A&M's core values.
- Familiarity with applying or implementing AI tools in consulting engagements or due diligence is considered a strong plus.

Full-time Positions and Part-time Positions Over 30 hours
Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are also entitled to participate in Alvarez & Marsal Holdings' fringe benefits consisting of healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages at rates determined periodically as well as a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive an annual discretionary contribution to their 401(k) retirement savings plan from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $175,000 - $195,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
