GENERAL SUMMARY
The Director of Events is a key contributor to the team responsible for providing proactive support to Etherio Meetings and Events and producing world class meetings, events and incentives for our customers. Specifically, this person is responsible for leadership and management of client meetings which include price negotiations, budget management, spend reporting, audit file post reconciliation and ensuring continued compliance with federal, State and client compliance laws, regulations and policies. The Director will have a high level of experience in both tangible (i.e. planning and operations) and intangible (i.e. relationship building and people skills) areas of focus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work with the Senior Director/Team Lead to address any client issues and assist in developing and updating department standard operating procedures.
- Provide input to overall meeting planning operations direction and goals.
- Think creatively and bring innovative ideas and solutions to our client’s programs.
- Develop forward-thinking strategies to ensure delivery and execution of best-in-class client events.
- Work with Senior Director/Team Lead to ensure all related expenses are accurately captured and clients are invoiced in a timeline manner.
- Stay abreast of all pertinent client policies and procedures and actively share any updates with the team.
- Assist with the oversight of all vendors to help ensure exemplary service regardless of event location.
- Directly manage client meetings/events/incentive trips/conferences.
- Keep up to date of changes in the marketplace and industry the best practices to ensure the continued effectiveness of events managed and supported by Etherio.
- Serve as direct supervisor for travel directors.
- Ability to manage, mentor and guide additional colleagues when requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- CMP or CMM designation preferred.
- 8+ years of meeting management or hospitality management experience.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strategic decision-making ability.
- Strong project and team management skills.
- Forward-thinking.
WORKPLACE LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
Remote or Hybrid (working as a combination of remote and in-office presence) as well as the possibility of being onsite at client and/or event locations.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel at least 30%
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
Requires flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client, event, or company needs.

- Must be able to remain either in a stationary position most of the time (such as when working in the office), while also being able to stand and/or move for the majority of the time (such as when executing events onsite).
- Need to lift, carry, push, or drag boxes or equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Frequently moves inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Need to adapt and function in various physical settings (for example, conference centers, indoor and outdoor spaces).
- Occasionally required to position self in a stooping, kneeling, or crouching manner.
- Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, machinery and computers.
- Frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Frequently computers and other electronic equipment.
- The noise level in the office work environment is usually low to moderate, while the environments may be moderate to noisy.
