Job Summary
The Director of Data Architecture and Governance reports to the VP, Data Analytics and Services and provides leadership for the enterprise's data architecture and governance functions. The role ensures that data is structured, accessible, secure and trustworthy across the organization. This role is critical in driving data driven decision making, ensuring data governance and implementing scalable, efficient data solutions that align with organizational goals.
Education & Experience
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or equivalent experience
• U.S. Citizen
• Must be able to receive a favorable Interim and adjudicated Department of Defense (DoD) background investigation
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of experience managing teams and large-scale projects
• Expertise in data modeling, database design, and data warehouse architecture
• Strong knowledge of data integration tools, ETL processes, and data pipeline design (Databricks, Snowflake, RDBMS)
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-based data warehouse platforms like Snowflake
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Purview)
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable strategies for non-technical stakeholders
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-level data solutions
Preferred:
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Knowledge of healthcare data (claims, provider, member) and related regulations
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
• Develop and execute the organization's data architecture strategy to align with business objectives to design a mature analytics-based platform.
• Define and enforce data standards, policies, and governance practices to ensure data quality, master data management, security, and compliance.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business innovation and efficiency. Architectural Design & Development:
• Design and oversee the implementation of robust, scalable, and efficient data models, databases, and analytics and AI/ML pipelines.
• Define enterprise data architecture principles, including integration, security, and performance standards.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and technologies to support data initiatives. Team Leadership:
• Lead and mentor a team of data architects, data engineers, and analysts to achieve departmental goals.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the data team.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Partner with IT, analytics, data engineering, data quality & governance and business teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet organizational needs.
• Work with external vendors, consultants, and partners to implement data solutions and ensure interoperability. Data Governance & Security:
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA, where applicable.
• Oversee the implementation of data security measures, access controls, and disaster recovery plans. Performance Monitoring:
• Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of data architecture and data management practices.
• Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of data systems and processes.

Working Conditions
• Remote or hybrid, depending on business need

TriWest job postings typically include a salary range, which can vary based on the specific role and location, but generally this position ranges from around $217,000 to $231,000 per year.
