Description:
Set up and operate all Die Services machine tools including lathes, boring mills, radial drill, vertical mill, boring bar and other related equipment to produce both centrifugal cast and continuous cast dies.
- Working from blueprints or sketches, lay out work and determine best methods for manufacture of dies.
- Work to tolerances of ± .010 checking own work with precision measuring equipment.
- Maintain Die Services equipment, assist in foundry set ups and perform other duties in support of foundry die needs.
- Perform a variety of functions to support the Die Services Department. (May include core making, die prep., etc.)
Knowledge of machining techniques for graphite, mild steel, tool steels and copper.
- Knowledgeable in use of precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
- Solid shop math and blueprint reading skills.
- General knowledge of tooling practices and at least 1 year of machining experience preferred.
- General knowledge of Foundry and Die Service die practices preferred.
- Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
