Description
Job Summary:
The Detention Deputy is responsible for the custody, care, and control of inmates within the correctional facility. This position involves processing new inmates, enforcing rules and disciplinary procedures, preparing required documentation, and ensuring compliance with jail standards. Deputies work closely with other law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe and secure facility environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain physical custody and control of inmates within the facility.
Receive and process inmates upon intake.
Enforce disciplinary procedures to maintain order and control inmate behavior.
Prepare reports and documents required for operational procedures.
Complete arrest documentation for individuals housed in the facility as well as those brought in by local, state, or federal law enforcement officials.
Requirements
Minimum Selection Criteria:
Graduation from high school or possession of a State of Florida-recognized High School Equivalency Diploma.
Associates or Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university (preferred).
Must be currently Florida Certified in Law Enforcement or attending a Law Enforcement Academy.
No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving perjury or false statements.
No dishonorable or general discharge from any branch of the Armed Forces.
Ability to perform duties in accordance with agency standards.
Knowledge of Florida Model Jail Standards.
Valid Florida drivers license.
