The Opportunity
This is an exciting time to join CVWD! Over the past year, CVWD has welcomed new members to its executive management team, filling new positions, and creating an operational plan to govern future activities. As a direct report tothe General Manager and key member of the executive team, the Deputy Director of Human Resources/ Risk Managementwill play a pivotal role in these efforts, offering direction and support while ensuring that
CVWD’s excellent workplace culture is preserved. This position is available due to a planned retirement.

Essential duties include:
- Providing advice to their peers on Human Resources/Risk Management policies and procedures. Overseeing employee relations.
- Developing, administering, and overseeing District-wide Human Resources and Risk Management functions andprograms. Leading recruitment, selection, compensation, retention, benefits, performance evaluation, employeerelations, classifications, regulatory compliance, Workers’ Compensation, property and liability, safety programs,security administration, claims management, and training and development activities.
- Administering and coordinating the provisions of the Employee Policy Manual. Overseeing the development andimplementation of new program elements and program modifications to meet stated goals and objectives. Representing the District in grievance, counseling, and disciplinary actions
Requirements
Qualifying Education and Experience
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible management experience in human resources and risk management, including at least five (5) years in a supervisory capacity. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is desirable. Possession of a validCalifornia Class "C" driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
