Description
The department has nine graduate programs, including three doctoral programs (Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education and Practice, and School Psychology) and three CACREP master’s programs (Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and School Counseling), and offers Ed.S. degrees in both School Counseling and School Psychology.
Our mission is to advance the fields of counseling and psychology by promoting rigorous research, applying evidence-based treatments, and advocating for effective social policies. We are dedicated to preparing distinguished professionals who use empirically validated methods to support and enhance the well-being of the communities they serve. Through our commitment to scholarship and advocacy, we aim to achieve prominent prevention, intervention, and treatment outcomes for all individuals.
The Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development and is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
-managing and allocating the department’s budget, faculty and staff recruitment and evaluation, and ensuring compliance with university policies;
-ensuring programs maintain APA- and CACREP-accreditation;
-supporting faculty in their scholarly and creative work, and supporting faculty and staff in their professional development;
-managing the growth of the departmental external funding portfolio;
-overseeing the quality of instruction, credit hour production, and class/teaching assignments;
-fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students, ensuring their academic and professional development;
-working effectively with faculty, staff, and other departments within the college and university.

Requirements
A minimum of 10 years of experience in a tenure-track faculty position. Current rank of tenured associate or full professor. University/college service and leadership experience. Experience in managing budgets and financial resources.
Doctoral degree in counseling psychology, counselor education, or school psychology from an accredited program.
Effective personnel management knowledge and skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
Familiarity with curriculum development and program assessment.
