The Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center (ZAVAMC) and the Medical College of Wisconsin invite applications for the position of Chief of Cardiology. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a premier VA cardiology program and shape the future of cardiovascular care, research, and education. We are seeking an accomplished academic cardiologist and leader to direct a vibrant and growing cardiology section committed to excellence in patient care, research, and education.
The Cardiology Section at ZAVAMC includes approximately 20 full- and part-time cardiologists, as well as six advanced practice providers. Our team provides tertiary-level care for complex cardiovascular conditions, offering advanced services such as:
- Interventional Cardiology: High-risk PCI and state-of-the-art structural interventions
- Electrophysiology: Complex ablation procedures for AFib and ventricular arrhythmias
- Valvular and Structural Heart Disease Programs
- Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging: Cardiac MR, coronary CT, and procedural imaging
- Specialized programs in Cardio-oncology, Women’s Cardiovascular Health, and Telecardiology
We work in close collaboration with Cardiothoracic Surgery, Radiology, and regional VA facilities within VISN 12, and are deeply engaged in clinical research and innovation.
Leadership Responsibilities:
The Chief of Cardiology will oversee all inpatient, outpatient, procedural, and telemedicine services. Key duties include:
- Recruitment, development, and management of faculty and advanced practice providers
- Oversight of program development, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
- Advancement of research programs and support for scholarly productivity
- Outreach to community-based outpatient clinics and regional partners
- Maintenance of a significant clinical contribution to the practice in the candidate’s area of expertise
Academic Appointment:
This position includes a faculty appointment at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), commensurate with qualifications and experience. ZAVAMC serves as a primary teaching hospital for MCW. The successful candidate will actively participate in fellowship and residency training, medical student education, and mentorship of early-career physicians and researchers.
Qualifications:
- Board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine
- Experience of at least 5 years that includes meaningful leadership experience in academic medicine is highly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, with a strong record of research, scholarship, and/or grant funding preferred
- Eligibility for faculty appointment at MCW
