Description
OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Cartography Technician Intern for summer 2026 in our Yarmouth, ME location. In this role, you will be responsible for for the creation, edition, evaluation and maintenance of cartographic data for use in Garmin products, in compliance with established methodology and processes.
Essential Functions
- Work under close supervision of supervisor or mentor, following specific, detailed instructions and communicates status of work clearly to supervisor or mentor
- Create, edit and/or maintain cartographic data using Garmin-proprietary and/or third-party software
- Complete well-defined basic cartography tasks
- Identify and resolve simple issues using proper cartography techniques
- Submit work for peer review to ensure product integrity and act on feedback
- Participate in cartographic data evaluation, processing and verification using established methodology
- Demonstrate drive to develop product and process enhancements on features and settings on assigned tasks
- Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Geosciences or related field OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
- Basic working knowledge and understanding of digital cartographic principles relevant to Garmin's business needs
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with PC applications in a Windows environment
- Ability to learn/understand established processes/tools and apply them to daily tasks
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal/technical communication skills
- Able to document work thoroughly/in an organized manner
- Enthusiastic attitude with a strong sense of commitment, accountability and urgency
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve goals
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Understanding of Garmin's Cartography Development Process
