The Division of Cardiac Surgery at Lankenau Heart Institute (LHI) is seeking inpatient cardiac surgery critical care (ICU) advanced practice providers (APPs – PAs or NPs) in support of a growing program. Our program staffs a 16-bed Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) offering advanced care for full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery patients. These include complex and minimally invasive valve repair, coronary bypass, aortic surgery robotic cardiac surgery, trans-catheter interventions as well as an active mechanical circulatory support (both ECMO and VAD) program.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills in managing patients with operating cardiac surgeons, intensivists and other APPs.
- Clinical judgement in managing patients after cardiothoracic surgery.
- Provide 24/7 coverage shifts in the cardiothoracic ICU and step-down unit (SDU).
- Experience and clinical skills preferred in critical care and understanding of cardiac surgery pre- and postop management. Motivated candidates accepted without experience.
- Engage in CTICU clinical management protocols.
- Valid Pennsylvania PA or NP License

Lankenau Medical Center is a quaternary care referral center with emphasis on adult acquired cardiac surgery. The Fellowship involves a clinical experience in the total preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management of complex cardiac patients’ characteristic of a tertiary care Medical Center. Majority of experience will be gained at the Flagship Lankenau Medical Center, with rotation to sister institutions within a 15-mile radius in suburban Philadelphia. An intense operative experience consistently involves over 1000 open, minimally invasive, transcatheter and endovascular cases annually. The case mix is relatively evenly distributed among structural heart, coronary revascularization valve, and aortic disease.
