The NMRL/WHPRC is a state-of-the-science laboratory encompassing 11,600 square feet of space and features state-of-the-science capabilities in exercise physiology, bone adaptation, and morphology (HRpQCT and DEXA), exercise biochemistry, strength, and performance assessments. The mission of the NMRL/WHPR is to mitigate musculoskeletal injuries and optimize human performance by conducting innovative, multi-disciplinary, basic, and applied research providing evidence and translating scientific knowledge, enhancing clinical decisions and education. This research will lead to improved quality of life and resiliency in athletic, military, and active populations. Our vision is to be internationally recognized as a premier academic research center and its faculty as thought leaders in human performance optimization and musculoskeletal injury prevention. Job Summary
Conducts laboratory experiments, intermediate-level tests, and a variety of scientific tasks. Performs data and specimen collection and processing as well as equipment maintenance and set up. Ensures adherence to all established protocols and regulatory practices.
Essential Functions
The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Division of Sports Medicine and Nutrition is seeking a qualified Research Assistant who will assist with conducting bone density and body composition assessments and collect biospecimens as part of multiple ongoing research studies. We are looking for an individual who is organized, dependable, hard-working, and has excellent interpersonal skills.
The incumbent is responsible for performing all daily research activities at the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory/Warrior Human Performance Research Center testing including (but not limited to) the following: - data collection and management - administrative operations to include scheduling volunteers and tests - instruction of subjects - collection of bone density and body composition data processing, analysis, and archiving of biomechanical, musculoskeletal, and physiological data performing blood draws via venipuncture.
Bachelor's degree and combination of relevant education and experience. Candidate will have to pass research certification modules for HIPPA and IRB, complete necessary Radiation Safety trainings, as well as possible military security clearance.
